Sweater: J.Crew ~ Shoes: Target ~ Skirt: J.Crew ~ Earrings: J.Crew ~ Ring: Family heirloom
I mentioned in an earlier post that a lot of my style this season has been inspired by the 60's and 70's, and this outfit is exactly what I was talking about. When I first put this outfit together, all of my retro dreams came true. One of my managers at work likes to refer to this sweater as the "Marcia Marcia Marcia sweater" because, let's be honest, Marcia Brady most defiantly would wear this sweater. Everything in this shoot, except my shoes, is from J.Crew's fall collection, and I fell in love with all of it. J.Crew really nailed their fall collection, and these earrings are all the proof that you need.
How is life for you right now? Are you excited that it's fall, or are you so overwhelmed you didn't even notice the change in temperature? I'm somewhere in between, if I'm being honest. This awkward season of life continues to take me by surprise, and I never feel like I can find comfort or routine in it. Last week I learned some news that slightly rocked my world, and friends it has been difficult to process. I didn't know what to do with myself except feel terrible and confused. Not knowing where to start, I spent the whole week listening to what my body needed and what I was feeling. I still feel weary this week, but I am also motivated to move forward. I think so many times when we find ourselves struggling we try everything we can to move past it, but friends there is so much power in letting ourselves feel. How are we ever to move past something unless we morn that loss? Life is filled with opportunities to learn and to grow, and a huge lesson (I'm currently learning) is how to morn losses properly so that you can heal and actually move on. This is not always easy because we are taught to push through that pain to get to the happiness again.
A really wise person once told me that we aren't going to feel joy in every part of our lives, and that's really okay. Life is a collaboration of ups and downs and with out that push and pull, we will never grow. Embrace uncomfortable feelings dear friends this will help take you from falling, to falling forward. If you are in a difficult season I encourage you to take care of yourself and also to be vulnerable. We are not designed to walk this life alone, so reach out to a loved one. And lastly, do something for yourself this week. Take a day trip, go to the movies, get your nails done, whatever makes you feel cared for. I wish you all the best this week.
