Spring Awakening

Top:  J.Crew ~ Bag:  Coach ~ Shorts:  J.Crew ~ Shoes:  Talbots ~ All Accessories:  Forever 21

I've been doing a lot of shopping in preparation for my trip to Italy this summer.  Lots of stripes and neutrals seem to be making up my wardrobe.  I told myself I was going to wait to wear my new clothes until I got there, but I couldn't resist giving them a test run.  This cotton top from J.Crew will be perfect for warm days in Florence, and the sleeves make it appropriate for visits to cathedrals.  I will be trading out my heels for sandals, but on any other day they are a great way to dress up any casual summer look.

I can't believe that the semester is finally coming to an end.  Spring semester always seems to fly by, but for some reason this particular one seemed to sprint by.  It has been a crazy semester, and now that it is coming to a close I can't help but reflect upon it.  What I've realized is, I am so incredibly thankful for the life God has given me.  This year has presented me with many trials but now that I am on the other side I can finally appreciate the journey.  It is true that every detail of our lives sculpt us into the people we are today, and sometimes it takes a few tears to find real joy.  I am a fighter, always have been and I always will be.  I have chosen to fight for the life I want and the person I want to be.  If you feel like you are in a crossroad in your life, figure out what makes you truly happy and fight.  I believe that each and everyone of us deserves the right to explore our true potential.  Let no one or nothing tell you otherwise.  A wise woman once told me, "You were born to be Funfetti, don't let anyone make you feel vanilla."  In a very vanilla world, dare to be Funfetti.

Easter was a little different this year.  I usually spend time with my family in Memphis, but with school and work, traveling just wasn't an option.  Although my time was not spent with my biological family, I did spend it with the next best thing.  I have been so blessed with the friendship of Katie and Ryan in my life.  Between dinners every Thursday night and impromptu snow days, I can't imagine Chattanooga without these guys.  No matter what crazy shenanigans I have going on in my life, they always know how to brighten my day and provide the comfort of being with family.  My Easter Sunday was spent with them, and what a joy it was.  We attended church then retired to their house for an early dinner.  Katie is an exceptional cook, and anything her spatula touches turns to gold.  That being said she did not let us down on Sunday.  A strawberry cake made from scratch was enjoyed by all, along with many other delicious dishes.

They are such a beautiful couple and I am so thrilled that they are expecting a little one this year!  I am so excited to see how God blesses them these next few years.  Their hearts are so full of love, I have no doubt in my mind that they will be incredible parents.  All that being said, I am beyond ready to shower that kid with J.Crew and be an auntie Mollie!

I apologize for not posting for a few weeks.  Life here in Chattanooga has been so crazy between school, work, and finishing up last minute details for the summer.  I have mentioned here and there about a possible trip back to Italy this summer, and as of this week it is official!  For six weeks I will be studying fashion marketing in the beautiful city of Florence and I can't even contain my excitement!  It has been a crazy long journey that has exhausted me to no end, but it has been all worth it!  I will be posting about my adventure all summer, so feel free to follow along with me!

On top of my exciting news, spring has sprung, and I can't hide my giddiness.  My brother and I spent the majority of our childhood outside.  Every time spring rolls around every scent seems to take me back to mud pies and hide and seek.  There is this beautiful lilac bush by my house that I use to play by and now every time I smell lilac I feel like a giddy eight year old!  There is something so nice about wiggling your toes in last summers sandals and flashing your pale legs in this years shorts.  I love this J.Crew rolled tee from their March collection.  It is perfect for running errands on a spring day or maybe even a picnic in the park!  I hope you all have been enjoying this beautiful spring weather, and that you have a happy Easter!
