By The Sea

Cardi:  J.Crew ~ Top:  Banana Republic ~ Shorts:  Zara ~ Shoes: Jack Rogers ~ Sunnies:  Ray Ban

There is a part of me that has always longed to live by the sea.  It would be such a dream to live out the Ingrid Michaelson song, "Far Away".  She sings, "I will live my life as a lobsterman's wife on an island in the blue bay he will take care of me, he will smell like the sea and close to my heart he'll always stay."  She goes on to describe her three strawberry blonde curly haired girls and the happy home she has created, what a wonderful life to have!  So I didn't meet my lobsterman husband and move to the sea, but the second week of my summer vacation I did travel to the quaint town of Fairhope, AL.  Three of my best girlfriends and I loaded up the car and drove the six hours to this charming town (Think Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls but on a bay).  We spent the most wonderful week there catching up since leaving for college and having some good quality girl time.  The town is only a thirty minute drive to the beach so majority of our days were spent basking in the golden sun and splashing in and out of the water.  We spent a day or two in town exploring the town and lounging on the dock, and we even made it down to New Orleans at one point!  It was such a blessed time filled with laughter, memories (old and new), and friendship.  Although we all left for different college's and have grown in to very different people, it is amazing how we can get together and it be as if no time has past.  True friendships are the one's the grow as you grow.

I was so excited to style my new Jack Rogers sandals especially because I was able to pair them with my new polka dot pleated Zara shorts that I picked up in Italy.  I absolutely love orange and navy!  I feel like the colors complement one another so beautifully and if you pair it with white it adds such a crisp touch.  This scalloped white shell is one of my favorites.  It is classic, feminine, and adds a preppy touch to any outfit.  Okay now I have to brag for just a second on the deal I got on these sandals.  I posted a link for the promotion about a month ago, so I hope some of you shared the same excitement I had when I basically stole these from Neiman Marcus last April.  These shoes were only $14....Thats right $14 (Saving $100)!  It pays to watch for those sales guys.  Goodness me I do love a good sale!  I hope all of you are enjoying the summer as much as me, I wish you all a blessed and wonderful week!

Welcome Home, Sun

Dress:  Urban Outfitters ~ Earrings:  Borrowed from Mom

I really wanted my first post of the summer season to be a more free boho inspired look.  This dress came to mind when I was brainstorming for this shoot.  I adore the eyelet details and the scalloped trim.  I kept everything very simple with natural makeup and hair which complemented the gold hoops.  All that is missing is sun kissed skin to truly capture the look of summer.

Nothing says summer more than a field of wild flowers, so when Sydney and I found this location we were in heaven.  Of course we had to climb over a barbed wire fence on to private property, but man was it worth it.  Acres upon acres of open farm land that even came with an a variety of farm animals.  Sometimes you have to climb some fences in order to capture the magic.  It was so exciting to be out with Sydney again, but of course after shooting for five minutes her camera died.  If I haven’t expressed how incredibly talented she is in the past, well I am now.  She didn’t let me worry for a second, she pulled out her iPhone and carried on like nothing had changed.  Let that sit in.  All of these were taken on her phone...she’s that good.  Shooting with Syd really solidified that it was summer.  I am finally home for the summer, but it has been strange molding back into my old life.  This little adventure made so many memories come flooding back, and in that moment I was reminded of my Hendersonville life.  One of my favorite songs,"Welcome Home, Son", really seems to come to mind when I think of summer.  Trips to the beach, conversations running late into the night, and laughter that could be heard from miles away; these are memories that play through my head with this song.  My Freshman year at UTC was truly amazing, but I am happy to be home.  I am looking forward to laughter, warm nights, and many memories to come.
