If You haven't heard me say it a thousand times at least some white girl in your algebra class has, it's fall! Flannel seems to be the trademark of the season. Whoah now, Suzy Q and Johnny be cool are sporting their flannels today it must be that time of year again! But the thing is the flannel is so unappreciated, it typically only gets one look every time, "casual", but I'm here to tell you that you can wear that bad boy all week long and not look like you just rolled out of bed.
The first look is "preppy". Whether you are apple picking some where in Vermont or tailgating with your buds this always is good cozy go to look. Start with your favorite flannel and then layer with your choice of vest or even a nice sweater. Since you have so much going on up top it's always good to accentuate your legs with a slimmer pant and finish with a cute shoe, such as these awesome smoking loafers or even riding boots. Pearls are always appropriate for a classic look like this, so go ahead and layer those up too.
The Second look is "dressy". When people think of flannel they don't typically think of going to a cocktail party, maybe not but it would make for a cute dinner outfit. Instead of throwing it on over a pair of leggings button that bad boy up and pair it with an accent necklace for a clean chic look. I paired my flannel with this great skirt from Kayce Hughes to accent my waist and then elongated my legs with a pair of nude pumps.
The last look is the classic "casual" look. I don't think I need to explain this because really it's all about what you feel like throwing on. I love layering mine over a comfy tissue tee , leggings, Converse, and simple gold jewelry. But I've worn this casual look a many different ways. Sometimes I roll out of bed and throw something on for class and realize once I'm there I could probably pass for a homeless person. But for real Bean boots, leggings, riding boots, Chacos, Vans, graphic tees, the options are endless.
Flannel: Old Navy ~ Leggings: Target ~ Jeans: Old Navy ~ Converse: T.J. Maxx ~ Tank: J.Crew ~ Skirt: Kayce Hughes ~ Vest: Talbots ~ Loafers: Old Navy
Pumps: DSW ~ Necklace: J.Crew Factory
Like I touched on in the "casual" look all of these can be done hundreds of ways. If you like one, great! Go to your closet and see what you can throw together. A flannel is only an accessory, but an outfit reflects your personality. Clothes are obviously an outlet for me, but I don't stress out about them. I feel like I sometimes can get caught up in wanting the newest boots or I have to have her coat, but really it should be fun. Don't give a crap about what Lana too cool is wearing next to you, just be happy and confident in what you have and thats all that really matters. Clothes and trends will fade, but a personality will last a lifetime. I hope you are enjoying your fall season so far, and I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week!
