Summer to Fall: Bright Colors

Dress:  Forever 21 ~ Necklace:  Dillards ~ Shoes:  Jack Rogers ~ Denim Jacket:  J.Crew Factory
Boots:  Sam Edelman

Summer is dominated by bright colors, so your closet most likely contains one or two bright colored pieces you might be having a hard time letting go of.  Well I get it, bright colors are fun and they make us look tanner, so why not wear them for just a little bit longer?  Transitioning brighter colors into fall is all about layering and neutralizing.   I have never been a huge fan of jean jackets, I've always felt they looked very 90's (apparently 90's are back), but for what ever reason I am all about them this season.  A solid, muted colored jacket or sweater is a good place to start.  First of all it's practical, hello it's getting chilly now, and second of all it allows your bright colors to seem like a "pop" of color and no longer be the focal point of the outfit.  The next thing is to wear fall forward footwear.  Boots, booties, suede flats/loafers all of these suggest fall outfits and once again makes your bight colored ensemble all about the "pop"  Lastly accessorize for the season.  I simply traded my pearl jewelry in for a scarf and leather strapped watch.

This is the last post in my "summer to fall" series, and I hope you've enjoyed it!  After reading these I challenge you to go to your closet and see what you can recreate!  Fall is my favorite season, and I tend to get a little crazy when it comes to shopping but it's important to remember there is more to life than clothes and outfit repeating is actually a good thing.  One of my favorite quotes comes from J.Crew and it says, "A repeat outfit is just a well-earned encore."  So despite Kate Sanders, yes I did make a Lizzie Mcguire reference there, it's okay to be an outfit repeater!  I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week!

Summer to Fall: Gingham

Button up:  J.Crew Factory ~ Shorts:  LOFT ~ Necklace:  J.Crew Factory ~ Shoes:  Jack Rogers
Sweater:  Talbots ~ Jeans:  Old Navy ~ Necklace:  Dillards ~ Booties:  Old Navy

Gingham button ups are an essential to your wardrobe for any season!  I love to mix prints so I paired the summer look with some fun linen shorts and bold necklace with similar colors to tie it all together.  For the fall look I simply swapped the brighter colors for neutrals.  I layered this great oatmeal colored sweater over the gingham for a cozier look, and swapped my sandals for a cute pair of suede booties.  I love accessorizing a good classic look like this with pearls, because, well, pearls are always a good idea!  I hope all is well in your world, until next Thursday!

Summer to Fall: Day Dress

Dress:  J.Crew Factory ~ Shoes:  Jack Rogers ~ Necklace:  J.Crew Factory ~ Jacket:  Old Navy
Heels:  Audrey Brooke

I'm obsessed with this stripped casual dress I picked up from J.Crew Factory this summer.  I love it because the leather detailing on the pockets make it very easy to bring into fall.  Simply change the shoes and throw on a sweater and viola, a fall outfit!

I hope you've enjoyed this little series I've put together so far!  Two more weeks to go, so I hope you keep checking back every Thursday to learn more!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful and blessed week!

Summer to Fall: Floral

And just like that summer begins to fade and the leaves begin to change....oh fall is just my favorite time of the year!  Not only am I excited about this seasons clothes, but I am SO excited to wear them without walking outside and feeling like I've stepped into Satan's armpit.  even though we still have  probably another month of armpit weather, having the retail mindset that I have, I've already been in fall mode for a good month.  But the thing is I also have some pieces I just bought, or I'm not ready to stop wearing.  So for the entire month of September I have set every post around how to carry your favorite summer pieces into the fall!

This fun floral dress was defiantly my go to dress this summer.  The neutral tones and short length make it easy to carry into the fall by simply layering a sweater on top.  I layered a chambray button up under the sweater to make the look appear more like a skirt top combo rather than just throwing something on over a dress.  Obviously it is wayyy too miserable outside right now for tights, but I love wearing shorter skirts with booties and tights.  I feel like the combo lengthens even the shortest of legs, It's all about the illusion!

I hope school, work, or whatever it is going on in your life is going well!  For me school has got me busier than I've ever been, but I wouldn't have it any other way!  Keep reading for all of September to read more about how to carry your favorite summer pieces into the fall!  Have a wonderful and blessed week!
