Big City Wannabe

Top:  J.Crew ~ Dress:  Forever 21 ~ Shoes:  DSW
Necklace: Francesca's collections ~ Bag:  Kate Spade

People always ask you in high school where you see yourself in ten years.  I've always thought that was such a funny question because within the second semester of freshman year majority of us will all have changed our majors.  When asked this question I've always given a very vague answer, usually something like, "Hopefully married and happy".  I think it's very important to have dreams and set goals for yourself, but for some people (like me) they become so focused on that dream and lose sight of what they actually want.  In my mind I have always been a "Big City Wannabe".  I have always seen myself moving to a city, like New York City, making it big in the fashion industry, and living fabulously ever after!  But the thing is, in the wake of all of the dreaming I don't want to wake up one day and ask myself, "Why am I even here?!"  I don't believe I've ever mentioned it on here, but I am a strong believer in God.  I believe I was put on this Earth to glorify Him, whether that is with fashion or building houses in Uganda.  So for now, yes, I will live in the "now".  I will love fashion, study hard in school, and keep an open mind about the future.

I've mentioned before that J.Crew is my favorite store, and I get a lot of my inspiration from their catalog.  They tend to layer a lot, and that's what I did here.  I took a very bold piece, the floral dress, and then paired it with a denim button up to complement and "pop" all of the beautiful orange, pink, and green's in the dress.  The way I folded the sleeve's of my shirt is actually called, "the J.Crew roll".  I have always admired this technique in their catalogs, and I recently found a "how to" on Pintrest!  I will attach a link if anyone is interested in learning how to achieve this fold!  I then finished the look with some pumps, a raspberry lip, and of course pearls!  Thank you for reading my weekly post!  I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week!

Casual Friday...or Wednesday

Top:  J.Crew ~ Sweater:  J. Crew ~ Jeans:  H&M ~ Shoes:  DSW
Necklace:  Francesca's ~ Bag:  Vintage Coach

I try to post only on Thursday's to be consistent, however this week I am going to be at my college orientation!  This fall I will be attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to study Marketing, and hopefully something with fashion!  I would LOVE to eventually work for J.Crew.  I currently am a sales associate for Talbots and I will continue working with them through college.  I hope that my current job will one day lead to an intership that could give me the experience I need to work for a company like J.Crew.  Whether it's being a buyer, marketing manager, or just getting someones coffee I hope one day to be able to share my fashion opinion with the world!  It would be a dream come true to work for an amazing company like J.Crew, but for now I'm just a 19 year old college student working in the present and dreaming of the future!

With this look I kept it very casual with a basic white sleeveless top and threw over one of my favorite cardi's for a pop of color!  I then kept it simple with some jean (dark wash complemented the green well) and then dressed it up with my favorite nude pumps!  For my accessories i added accents of pearl and brown to complement the cool tones in the outfit.  There you have it!  Casual fun friday outfit!  Have a wonderful week!

The Modern Holly Golightly

Dress:  Forever 21 ~ Shoes:  DSW ~ Braceletes:  Forever 21
Earrings:  Clair's ~ Bag:  Kate Spade New York

This blog post is kind of special because it falls on the same week as my birthday!  I turned 19 on Tuesday and had the most amazing day!  Breakfast at Tiffany's is my favorite movie and Audrey Hepburn is my all time idol, so I decided to throw a Breakfast a Tiffany's brunch with six of my closest friends.  The decorations came together perfectly, the cake came out beautifully, but what made the day so great was that I was surrounded by six beautiful women that each mean so much to me!  I can't even express how grateful I am to have found such wonderful friends!   We have always been there for each other as we've gone through this crazy thing called life!  The have been there to make me laugh when all I want to do is cry,  give me the truth when I all want to hear is lies, and have encouraged me to always stay true to myself.  No matter where we are 19 years from now I will always remember these girls and the impact they have made on my life!

With this look I mimicked Holly Golightly's classic black dress and pearls (of course!).  This is one of my favorite dresses because its kind of sexy with it's fitted style, but the pearl collar adds a classy flair!  I then added my favorite nude pumps for a little sass!  My parents were so incredibly sweet and gave me a Kate Spade (my favorite designer) bag for my birthday!  So of course I had to carry my new prize on my special day!  I topped the outfit off with my pearls and voilĂ !  The modern Holly Golightly!

If you have been blessed with wonderful friends like I have, then hold on to them.  Don't take people like that for granted!  I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed week!

Pastel Patriotism

Top:  J.Crew ~ Pants:  J. Crew ~ Shoes:  DSW

The 4th of July is absolutely my favorite holiday!  I live in a small town and around this time of year the whole community seems to come together and celebrate this great country we live in.  On the 3rd of July our town hosts a big festival, and i cant help but feel like I'm in and episode of The Gilmore Girls!    Sometimes all i want to do is leave this little town and never look back, but nothing beats the love and feeling of pride everyone gets around this time of year.

My outfit is not exactly red white and blue, but it is actually down pouring today in Nashville TN so this picture is from about two weeks ago!  No matter the weather my friends and I will still be outside all day celebrating this great world God created, and the wonderful country we live in!  A giant waterside might even be on the agenda for today...
God Bless America!
