Twas The Post Before Christmas

Dress:  Forever 21 ~ Shoes:  Enzo Angiolini ~ Coats:  Old Navy ~ Earrings:  Charming Charlie's  Clutch:  Charming Charlie's

I have been looking forward to this shoot for weeks!  Christmas and New Year's are some of my favorite times of the year simply because of the holiday dresses.  My incredibly talented friend Jaci agreed to fix my hair and make up for me, and let me just say she did an incredible job.  I had my favorite dress picked out and everything was going perfect until it came time to take pictures.
This shoot didn't exactly go according to plan.  After driving thirty minutes to the beautiful Opryland hotel I took two steps out of the car and the zipper on my original dress decided to give out.  My lovely assistants, Jaci and Sydney, did everything they could to restore the dress but it was hopeless.  The good news was the hotel is located directly across from a mall.  So I buttoned my coat up and walked out of the hotel with the defected dress flung over my arm.  It was quite a sight to see.  I was so lucky I found a beautiful dress that shared similar qualities as the original dress did.  So everything was not according to plan, but I think it worked out for the best.  On the bright side I got a new dress, and an even better story out of it!

In a funny way I feel like thats how my life seems to work lately.  I make these grand plans in life expecting the most fabulous results and it never seems to unfold the way I want it to.  Divine Intervention steps in and ,well breaks my zipper, and causes me to see the flaws in my plans. Better yet helps me to seek a new and better plan I never would have experienced without the Lord's help.  I know it is not quite New Year's, but I already know my top resolution is to follow the path of the Lord without hesitation.  I sure hope 2014 is full of new dresses rather than broken zippers.

For this Christmas edition post I wanted to create a look that showcased a woman's elegance and class.  I am such a sucker for black lace.  I think it is one of the most elegant material a woman can clothe herself in.  The winter is all about sophistication in my opinion, especially around Christmas and New Years.  Nothing says classic like lace, pearls, and red lips.  When I saw this dress I felt it perfectly captured all the elements a holiday dress should have; flattering cut, crisp colors, and a hint of elegance.    I think chic dresses should always be paired with your highest of heels and the ones shown are probably my favorite.  Nothing adds finishing touches like bows, except maybe pearls.  The pearl accessories were apart of the ensemble I wore to my senior prom and I always like to make excuses to wear them again.  Finally my jacket was apart of Old Nay's fall collection last year and it has served me well. I think it adds a feminine flair to any outfit.

My goodness Christmas has snuck up on me this year, and it will be gone before I know it!  I hope all of you have a very merry Christmas.  Enjoy this time with your family and remember those in need this holiday season.  Merry Christmas from me to you.

A Walk In The Park

Top:  Talbots ~ Pants:  Old Navy ~ Shoes:  Audrey Brooke ~ Bag:  Kate Spade
 Necklace:  Francesca's
I have lived outside of Nashville for almost 20 years and I have never been to the Parthenon until now! Oh my goodness I have been missing out!  It was such a beautiful location for the shoot, and I love that it is just right next to the exciting urban life of down town.  Chattanooga has become my new home this year, but there will always be a place in my heart for Nashville.  I love that you can go on a Tuesday night and hear music in almost every venue.  You can travel across town and spend hours exploring hundreds of stores showcasing the talented artists, farmers, and designers of Nashville.  This city is no longer just for Country music, Nashville has become an every mans kind of town.  I am proud to call Nashville my home away from home.

I absolutely love this lace top from Talbots.  I bought it this year thinking it would be a great fall piece but it has transitioned into my winter wardrobe with ease.  Matching it with these maroon pants easily makes the look more festive, and the shoes give the look a little sass in my opinion.  This is such a classic look I had to carry my lovely Kate with me, and of course pearls.  I hope this holiday season is treating you all well.  Have a wonderful and blessed week.

Printer's Alley

Top:  J.Crew ~ Vest:  Talbots ~ Skirt:  J. Crew ~ Boots:  Sam Edelman ~ Bag:  Coach

Finally this semester is over.  I am most defiantly looking forward to lazy days watching Netflix, lots of laughter, making new memories with friends, and some quality time with my family.  My brother is flying home from LA in a few weeks and I couldn't be more excited to see him!  Spoiler alert…He might even be featured in an upcoming post!  After a very exciting and crazy first semester of college it will be nice to spend some time relaxing.

I absolutely love my forest green excursion vest I bought last year.  Talbots has a similar one this year, that is just as cute, but I tend to keep things around for a few years if they are still in style.  I have eyed this striped skirt from J. Crew for some time now, but wanted to wait until it went on sale.   When it did boy was I happy!  I had a gift card on top of the sale so I think I ended up paying something like $18.  When I came home with my new purchase I immediately ran to my closet, as I always do, and played dress up for hours.  I'm honestly such a little kid when it comes to my closet.  I will sit in there for hours coming up with new outfits, crazy and cute.  One night my mother even had to come into my room and make me go to sleep because I had been in there for over three hours and had school the next day.  So after another one of my dress up parties  in my closet I successfully paired my new skirt with my beloved vest and chambray.  I then matched it with my brown boots and satchel.  Oh my, isn't fashion fun?!  I hope all of you have a wonderful, blessed, and relaxing week!  If you are still in school, hang in there it's almost over!

One of my obsessions this year has been sweaters with animals on them.  I bought the fox sweater last year at Old Navy and got so many compliments on it I just had to add to my collection this year.  So I went back to Old Navy and found this adorable owl sweater, and of course I just had to get it because of Chi Omega!  I found the hedgehog at Target and fell in love!  I immediately thought of twenty different ways to incorporate this whimsical top into my closet.  With all the leather and lace this season I thought it would be refreshing to add a a little fun onto the blog!  I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed week!
