Thanksgiving is one of my all time favorite holidays (it's up there with the fourth of July). It's the one time a year where the whole family comes together without the pressure of gifts or money and simply reflects on thankfulness. When I was in third grade I made this little clay turkey in art class. Every Thanksgiving since then, that little turkey has been the center piece on our table. While everyone is waiting for the food to be finished cooking they write on slips of paper what they are most thankful for and slip them under the little turkey. After everyone has had all they could possibly eat we each take turns reading aloud what has been written. This is such a simple tradition, but it is one I hold dear to my heart. I love that all those years ago my parents made me the happiest nine year old in the world by letting me start a tradition. My family is far from perfect and yet they are mine and I am so thankful for them and their unconditional love. This Thanksgiving be thankful for the life and the opportunities you have been given. God has a time and a place for everything, and that includes the families we are born into. Except the life you have been given and become a blessing in yours.
For this shoot Sydney and I went to the farmers market in Nashville. What started out as a few pictures, inspired by a post I saw on Pinterest, turned into a wonderful adventure. We had so much fun looking at all the pumpkins and produce, and of course we got several odd glances thrown our way. It was a good day for sure. I absolutley love herringbone and I immediatly fell in love with this excursion vest from J.Crew. When I bought it I immediately knew I had to do a post with it. So I started with the vest and added my favorite chambray shirt underneath. I paired the top with leggings and my favorite riding boots. I finished the look with a tortoise shell bracelet to tie in the browns, and then of course pearls! I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!
