Thanksgiving is one of my all time favorite holidays (it's up there with the fourth of July).  It's the one time a year where the whole family comes together without the pressure of gifts or money and simply reflects on thankfulness.  When I was in third grade I made this little clay turkey in art class.  Every Thanksgiving since then, that little turkey has been the center piece on our table.  While everyone is waiting for the food to be finished cooking they write on slips of paper what they are most thankful for and slip them under the little turkey. After everyone has had all they could possibly eat we each take turns reading aloud what has been written.  This is such a simple tradition, but it is one I hold dear to my heart.  I love that all those years ago my parents made me the happiest nine year old in the world by letting me start a tradition. My family is far from perfect and yet they are mine and I am so thankful for them and their unconditional love.  This Thanksgiving be thankful for the life and the opportunities you have been given.  God has a time and a place for everything, and that includes the families we are born into.  Except the life you have been given and become a blessing in yours.

For this shoot Sydney and I went to the farmers market in Nashville.  What started out as a few pictures, inspired by a post I saw on Pinterest, turned into a wonderful adventure.  We had so much fun looking at all the pumpkins and produce, and of course we got several odd glances thrown our way.  It was a good day for sure.  I absolutley love herringbone and I immediatly fell in love with this excursion vest from J.Crew.  When I bought it I immediately knew I had to do a post with it.  So I started with the vest and added my favorite chambray shirt underneath.  I paired the top with leggings and my favorite riding boots.  I finished the look with a tortoise shell bracelet to tie in the browns, and then of course pearls!  I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

Dress:  Forever 21 ~ Trench:  Banana Republic ~ Boots:  Lands End ~ Bag:  Coach
Belt:  J.Crew ~ Jewelry:  T.J. Maxx

I have never really been much of a morning person, however there is something so magical about dawn.  The world is quiet, untouched, and dream like.  I enjoy these moments of solitude.  I find it so peaceful to sit amongst the silence of the world and reflect.  It reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from the movie "Pride and Prejudice" when the beautiful Elizabeth Bennet dashes away from her house after a long night of confronting her true feelings simply to walk in the morning's silence.  Then of course the ever so charming Mr. Darcy appears in the distance like a dream.  They walk towards each other and confirm their love with a simple look.  Their heads meet and the sunrise shines perfectly on their silhouettes as if even the sun is rooting for their happiness. and they all lived happily ever after.  No I do not live in a Jane Austen book, and no there is no Mr. Darcy, but there is something so mesmerizing about dawn that makes all of it seem possible.

When I moved to Chattanooga this year it rained for two weeks straight.  It was to my understanding that I now lived in the Seattle of the south.  I decided to invest in some rain boots, so of course I had to put together a fall look with my new boots.  Green has been so popular this season and I love pairing it with purple so I put the two together.  I layered this great camel trench to neutralize the colors and to tie it all together.  I then finished the look with a splash of purple on top and belt to accentuate my waist.  I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed week!

It's The Simple Things

Jacket:  Talbots ~ Top:  Forever 21 ~ Jeans:  H&M ~ Booties:  Old Navy ~ Necklace:  Francesca's Collections ~ Bracelet:  Kate Spade

In our busy day to day lives I think all of us forget to remember and be thankful for the simple things in life.  During this shoot I saw Sydney's precious cat Zoe and began to play with him, thats right Zoe is a dude, and I was reminded of my love for cats as a child.  When I was young I begged and pleaded with my mother to buy me and my brother a cat and she never would, for good reason though since she was allergic.  However, one day our neighbors across the street announced they were moving away and needed a good home for their cat, and for whatever reason my mother took her in.  That day my mother made me the happiest child in the world.  I loved my sweet cat Alice with all of my heart, and playing with the darling Zoe reminded me of that simple love I had for my cat all those years ago.  Take some time today and remember the simple things in life.  Remember the things that brought us joy at one point in our lives.  Whether thats an old toy, a person, or the love you once had for an old companion like Alice.

This year I cam across these amazing booties and I just had to work them into an outfit somehow!  I started with the tan booties and then a paired them with form fitting denim.  I rolled the denim to my ankles to emphasize the booties.  I then added a simple stripped top, and this great jacket for a layer.  I added a pop of raspberry on my lips for some color, and then finished the look off with, of course, pearls.  I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week, and remember to enjoy the simple things.

Fall Is In The Air

Top:  Forever 21 ~ Jeans:  Talbots ~ Shoes:  Target  ~ Bracelets:  Forever 21 ~ Bag:  Kate Spade

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year!  From the food to the clothes, I love it all!  I think it is so beautiful how the world changes before our very eyes and we welcome that change.  At a time in my life where I am surrounded by change constantly, it is so lovely to be living in a world where change is so evident and loved.  It's almost as if God's presence lingers over every tree reminding us that change is a part of life, and can be beautiful if you welcome it.  I am so blessed to serve a wonderful God that guides me through this crazy world.  So bring on the change world, I welcome you!

With this outfit Sydney and I had so much fun!  She goes to a different college then I (sadly) but we managed to find a weekend to come home and take some fun pictures!  We were like kids in a candy shop running all over town exploring like old times!  We took one shoot and we would say, "there is no way we are going to up that one" and then we took another and they just got better and better!  We where so tickled by the end of the day we couldn't even handle it!  When we finished the shoot Sydney turned to me and said, "next time I guess we are just going to have to shoot on some mountains or something to up this weekend!".  It was so nice to spend some time with an old friend doing the thing we love the most.  Even though I'm off making new adventures I still cherish those moments with my dear friend.

I love stripes, and I feel like there is no season for a classic blue and white stripe!  I love mixing prints, so I paired the top with some contrasting cheetah flats and then threw my favorite red scarf on to tie it all together!  Such a simple classic fall look calls for, of course, some pearls, and a touch of Kate Spade!  I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week!
